Princess Rat needs increasing expensive vet treatment as she enters her retirement years and we need your help!

A note from Princess Rat's fosterer:

Rat aka Princess, was rescued by DRD at Christmas, 2012. She came to them scared, smelly, scarred and sad.

I became Rat's Permanent Fosterer a week later, the day after I got out of hospital. My body is attacking itself by an auto immune disease. I was sad, broken and scared.

Together we make a great team, we have grown to love life and have become beach babes, well in the sense we go for beach walks every day, rain, snow or shine. This is a dog that was frightened by the sand and sea on her first outing. Now she takes herself up to the top of a sand dune, lays on her side and paws her way down til she slides. We have many adventures that include the whole extended family. She is no longer fearful of people. Dog Rescue and I have nurtured her back to life.

Strangers are sometimes afraid of this muscular, tough looking dog that comes bounding towards them in her new founded playful manner. But Rat is a gentle, beautiful creature that has many teeth missing, scars and tears over her body, a lopsided tongue and she sports one eye.

People often approach Rat wanting to pat her. I should be charging them as it would make DRD lots of money! Upon seeing her damaged face, they ask the question "How?".

Rat's old job was as a pig hunter, that is why she has so many wounds and needs on going health care, which DRD pay for with their generosity and compassion for dogs.

They found out she has a thyroid problem and pay for the monthly cost of the meds. DRD also paid to have the tumor removed that she came with, unfortunately she had to lose a toe. For all of this that they do, I am truly grateful. DRD has given Princess Rat a new lease on life.

She came as a sad, stinky monster with a huge growth on her foot, an eye missing, tongue lolling to the side, green fumes and slime escaping her mouth and fur that was gross. She has a had a Cinderella moment with Dog Rescue and I as her Fairy Godmothers and she is now a gorgeous, gentle, glowing Princess who gets loads of love.

She is my best friend and she saved my life.
