Our friend in Nepal Nigma Yangjee, has lost her home in the earthquakes and we want to help her family build a new one.

We are all shocked to hear of the earthquakes that hit Nepal and of the devastating number of deaths and destruction. The situation is going from bad to worse. We met many wonderful Nepalese and Sherpa people while trekking in Nepal four years ago. We formed a close bond with a lovely young Sherpa woman Ngima Yangjee and it has been a pleasure keeping in touch with her and to help as we can. Two years ago Ngima Yangjee's mother passed away leaving her to care for her two younger sisters. She is now married with a baby but her husband only earns $15 per day as an apprentice trekking guide. They live in a remote area of the Khumbu region and their single room home is destroyed and they have lost their possessions. They are living in a tent and the monsoons are coming. They have nowhere to go and are terrified. We must help. There is now no income and they have little hope of rebuilding their home. We feel by concentrating our efforts on helping this one family it makes fundraising much more achievable and is more personal and tangible. Our aim is to raise enough funds to build a new home for this family.
A recent communication from Sheru, a teacher at The Edmund Hillary School says "it is a bleak time in Nepal". Please open your hearts and help, Thank you for considering our request - Christine and Grahame
We visited Nepal four years ago and met and formed bonds with some lovely Nepalese and Sherpa people that we keep in touch with. We were most upset to hear of the devastation caused by the earthquakes. It will take many years for Nepal to recover and we feel we must help in some way. It is more achievable and personal for us to focus our efforts on one family and Ngima Yangjee is very special to us. It would be wonderful if we could raise money to build a new home for her and her family. We hope to go to Nepal later this year to help
