EX TEAM NEW ZEALAND CREW MEMBER, RICK DODSON HAS MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS. RICK, ANDREW MAY & CHRIS SHARP'S NEXT GOAL IS THE 2016 PARALYMPICS
Auckland
America’s Cup sailor and multiple World Champion Rick Dodson was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 18 years ago.
Rick was crew with Team New Zealand when they won the America’s Cup in 1995, and again during the Teams 2000 defence.
His world took a dramatic turn once his condition deteriorated and he was no longer able to sail professionally.
Rick took some persuading before he decided to take on the challenge to qualify NZ for the 2016 Paralympics in Sailing, and go for Gold.
Rick is joined by experienced yachties Andrew May and Chris Sharp, both paraplegics due to motor accidents. Andrew has already competed in two previous Paralympics, and Chris has sailed competitively since a young age.
Kiwi Gold Sailing need to get to Melbourne for the International Disabled World Champs in November, and they need a further $26,500 to get there.
Whether it be $20 or $50, we will be really grateful for all donations, however if you would prefer not to donate, no problem, but please if you could share this with others who may be interested to donate – we would really appreciate it. Please help us win Gold for New Zealand
