After passing away tragically and unexpectedly, Susanna Ounei is making her final journey from Wellington to her ancestral home of Ouvéa.
Wellington
A founder of the Kanak independence movement, an internationalist, a feminist, a fearless activist for the weak and oppressed, a woman of the land with a critical mind, a big warm heart, and an engaging presence, Susanna Ounei passed away tragically and unexpectedly in the company of Jessie and Toui whom she had lovingly mothered.
This GiveALittle page is for Susanna’s friends, comrades and supporters from Aotearoa, te Moananui a Kiwa (the Pacific), and beyond to remember her and contribute to the costs of her final journey back from Wellington to Iaai (Ouvéa), her ancestral home and the island of her birth.
In line with Kanak custom, Susanna will be laid to rest in Iaai by the allied clan of her mother, the late Meya Ounei (née Trongadjo).
All contributions will go directly to Susanna’s family.
