Cycling adventures for our Northland Rescue Helicopters

Tour Aotearoa is one of the world’s great self-supported bike packing trips stretching 3,000km from Cape Reinga to Bluff. It follows a combination of beach, cycle trails, tracks, paths and lanes connected by country roads.

The journey will take them about 25 days, and they will be carrying all their own gear from tents to tools to toothbrushes. The 6 friends from the Whangarei area will be stating on Tuesday 18 February from Cape Reinga: Mike Waymouth, Jane Sweeney, Rob Meadows, Liz Davies, Paula Lang, and John Lengyel. They are not alone - there will be approx. 800 others completing the challenge between February and March this year.

Help us save lives – Awhi atu awhi mai

We are raising funds for our Northland Rescue Helicopters. This service has been running since 1988 and in that time has helped well over 20,000 people get emergency care. The primary missions of the service are to:

• Provide advanced life support assistance to ambulance crews with time critical patients

• Deploying in a first-response capacity to remote emergency calls where ambulance access may be limited

• Land and sea search and rescue including winch rescue operations

• Inter hospital transfers

Our group want to raise funds to support this essential service in the Northland region.

The Northland Emergency Services Trust is a non-profit registered charity, owned by the Northland community. This fundraising will help support the ongoing essential services that the Northland Rescue Helicopter service provides.
