Governors Bay Swim For Hope

We are raising money for the ‘I am Hope’ foundation and need the communities help. Our inspiration comes from the Amberley Fire Brigade who will be staging a Swim for Hope fundraiser at the same time.

Brigades all over Aotearoa are responding to more mental health and suicide related callouts every year. These calls weigh heavily on us all. As first responders it is heart wrenching to witness young members of our community struggling with their mental health and wellbeing. We can’t help but wonder how they will get on with the current shortage of money for mental health services. If more money could be available, then we could have the ambulance ‘at the top of the cliff’ and prevent any emergency services getting involved at all. More funds for speedy access to free counselling will help these young people navigate their most challenging times.

On the 25th of Feb, we are holding a 3-hour sponsored swimming relay at the Governors Bay Pool from 9am to 12pm. We won’t be able to keep the relay going all on our own, there are a lot of landlubbers in our Brigade! We need extra sponsored community swimmers to help us reach our target of $5000.00

For community swimmers, round up plenty of support from friends and family who can sponsor you on the link below. Try and get them along to the pool to watch you complete your swim which you can do at any time. There will be a sausage sizzle, hot and cold drinks on sale at the pool during the event, all proceeds to the cause.
