We are on a mission to raise funds for a life changing operation for 26 year old Renee Veal. In October I will be riding 700kms from Rapaki on Banks Peninsula to Bluff to raise money for Renee's operation which is very specialised Jaw Surgery that is NOT covered by the NZ Health system. Renee is a wonderful hard working young local woman and needs a total Jaw Reconstruction & Jaw Joint Replacement at a cost of approx. $90,000. This surgery will give her quality of life, for the rest of her life. Together we will make this surgery a reality for Renee.
It is difficult for Renee to sleep, to eat properly and at times speaking is painful. Renee experiences constant severe headaches. For the past 10 years she has seen life through a fog. Renee is pushing through with her university pre-health diploma but study, or even working is difficult given her condition but she soldiers on with a warm smile.
I depart 9 October riding to Bluff with my wife Chris as support crew. It’s not a race, it’s a life changing ride
Distance per day: 120kms Approximately per day over 6 days
Type of Bike: Electric and to attain the 120kms per day discipline Nuk can only stay at a maximum level 2 electrical assistance out of 5. Not bad for A Gold Card Holder!
Proceeds: All proceeds go to Renee Veal’s surgery Give A Little Fund
All “Ride for Renee” travel expenses are a Koha from Nuk and Chris
RENEE is a hard working, kind & compassionate young wahine who grew up at Rapaki on Lyttelton Harbour. Renee has had previous procedures but now needs this operation to have any quality of life for the rest of her life.

We are on our way for Renee to reach $90,000 5 November 2021
As of today we have $40,000 in Renee’s Surgery Account including both Givealittle and Renee’s surgery bank account. That has only been possible with your generosity, sharing Renee’s story and being part of her journey in some way. The cycle to Bluff took many turns along the inland route with snow, head winds, 1 puncture and some narrow roads with big trucks, but every pedal was worth it. Thank you from Renee’s family, our family and a huge hug and thanks from Renee. This isn’t the end of our fundraising journey it is just the beginning until we make surgery a reality for this 26 year old young woman.
