I am running the Goat to raise money for the Mary Potter Hospice.
Wellington, Kapiti Coast District
Kia Ora, my name is Naomi Dyer.
In December 2022 I lost my father suddenly to a swift and aggressive cancer, at the bright young age of 52. He was an avid runner, enjoying being out in the bush which was the best way for him to destress from his busy job as a GP. He completed the Big Bang Adventure race five weeks before he passed away. One of his favourite races was The Goat. This is an adventure run on the Round the Mountain track, traversing the western slopes of Mount Ruapehu. The 20 kilometre (approx.) course has over 1,000 metres of vertical ascent and covers amazing terrain.
I am doing this race in Jan 24 in my naval battle PT rig (boots, trousers, dry-fit shirt) in honour of my father and as a fundraiser for the hospice in which he passed away. Mary Potter Hospice is a local charity that provides specialist palliative care services for people living in Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti. The staff at Mary Potter cared for dad with love and compassion and supported and helped our family in any way they could. They are an incredible asset to the community.
Please consider donating either through this page or through the Mary Potter website itself. Every cent you donate allows the Hospice to continue to help those who desperately need support at an extremely challenging time of their lives, without any financial burden. https://marypotter.org.nz
