In November I shall be doing a 10km run to raise money for the carers who looked after my mum in the last stages of her battle with cancer.
Nelson / Tasman
In Mid-April my wonderful Mum (Gill Garner) was diagnosed with cancer. Our hearts already began to break as she was told she only had 4-6 months left to live. I live in New Zealand with my husband Josh and our two boys Jack and Joe. We booked our flights back to the UK and hoped to see her again, praying for a miracle recovery or at the very least to have a special time making some final memories. Mum died two weeks before we were due to arrive in the UK.
During mum's battle with cancer she was looked after by a number of amazing people. It is for the 'Homecare Team' at Hospiscare Exmouth & Lympstone and the Clinical Nurse Specialist Team (CNS) that I want to raise money for. They cared for and supported my mum (and my dad) during this incredibly difficult time with compassion, understanding, love and outstanding medical care.
I am doing a 10km run to raise money for these excellent carers. For some, 10km may not be a huge distance but for me, after 2 children, it is an enormous challenge. Please support me by giving to this cause and helping me thank and support the work of the people that cared for my most wonderful mum, who I miss with all my heart.
These two fantastic teams looked after my mum in the later stages of her life. I am raising money to support their work with terminally ill patients and their families.
The money raised will be equally divided between the 'Homecare Team' at Hospiscare Exmouth & Lympstone and the Clinical Nurse Specialist Team.
