Help our Top NZ 18-year-old Backstroker compete at Worlds in Budapest, Hungary Dec 2024
Forrest Hill, Auckland
Savannah-Eve is the current 17-18 year old NZ record Holder for 50 back Short Course (SC). In August 2024, she Broke the NZ Age group record (held for 15 years) 2x. This record breaking swim earned her a Silver Medal in the Open Final. Both of these swims were World Aquatics SC Qualifying times. Additionally at NZ SC Champs 2024 , she was crowned National Age Group Champion with Gold Medals in 50 Back, 100 Back, 50 Butterfly, Silver in 200 Back, and Bronze 50 Free. Savannah-Eve also led off her Team from Coast in the 4 x 50 Medley Relay where they Broke the NZ record.
This year's results are results of her passion and dedication to this sport since she was 8 years old. Currently she trains full time at Coast, in Silverdale under Elite Coach Michael Westin. This consists of 9 x 2-hour swim training sessions, plus 3 x Gym sessions weekly with Physio, massage and Nutritionist squeezed in for Optimal performance. This demanding schedule along with extremely limited funding for elite sports people in NZ, makes it incredibly difficult to raise enough funds independently.
WE NEED YOU!
To represent NZ in Budapest, Hungary, Savannah-eve needs to raise a min of $15,000, any additional funds raised will go towards covering her annual costs for swimming at an elite level in NZ. including but not limited to Jan swim Camp at $1800, Altitude training in USA in March 2025, World LC in Singapore in July 2025 and the list goes on.
Individual and Corporate sponsorship is Welcome.
- Written by my mother on my behalf.
The money will cover all expenses in getting her to Budapest, NZ Representative gear, Race Togs (which are $900 per suit) All Flights, Accommodation at Staging Camp in Slovakia and Accom in Budapest. Additional funds will go towards Annual swimming costs.
FINISHED TOP 20 in the world for 50 back 19 December 2024
THANK YOU so much to all of you who helped me get to World Short Course in Budapest. I have just arrived home and can reflect on what I achieved.
I did what I set out to do.. I did a Pb, and with that I also Broke my 18 year old NZ record again, and got under 27 seconds for 50 Back (26.98) only 2 woman ever in NZ have done that, myself and my Team mate who has just retired aged 30.
I also Finished 20th in The world, so I have to be happy with that.. I missed making the semis finals by a fingernail.. (.13 of a sec) It was a fantastic experience and I learned who these World classes are run and how to control the nerves a bit.. it has sparked me to make a semi final next time.. But to come away with a PB (which not many do) is pretty cool... Thankyou again for your support. SAVANNAH-EVE
Thanks Gavin, this is awesome. I’ll make sure to double it hehe. And surely we can talk about a super bonus If I make a final haha 😂
