Giving poor kids in the Philippines their ‘1st Christmas’.
Queenstown, Otago
I was born into extreme poverty in provincial Philippines. Christmas was something for rich people. For kids like me Christmas meant looking out the window at rich peoples fireworks. Sometimes we would eat rice. If we had any.
I’m fortunate now.
I live and work in New Zealand.
What I want to do is give children like me, from where I’m from the opportunity to have a Christmas experience.
Have food. Have games. Have a small toy, a surprise visit from Santa. Have a photo with Santa. To know there are people out there that care enough to give kids who have nothing the experience of a Christmas miracle.
Last year I self funded this project for 30 kids.
This year the goal is to provide a ‘1st Christmas’ to 100 poor kids.
This will make a huge difference to these children.
It will give them a special child hood memory.
It will give them a new happy experience and a 1st toy. It will give them hope and a belief that something outside of their current circumstances is possible.
How it works: With the help of friends I ask them to give me list of those kids via their parents. I got names of them if needed. From there, my niece in the Philippines (who also organised last years Christmas Party) will organise and distribute the payment for the foods, venue and other expenses related to the event.
Poor children from my province in Cebu in the Philippines.
For 100 kids.. Food, games, small toy, Santa, Christmas decorations, photography
