Wellington

This page is driven by the players and families of the New Zealand Junior Tall Blacks' Basketball Squad, asking for your support to help contribute to their overall camp and tour costs.

When participating in basketball, particularly at an elite level for a New Zealand national junior side, the financial cost facing families can be high. Basketball New Zealand (BBNZ) does subsidise the cost for players by covering all coach and support staff expenses, all team apparel, and a number of other items. Regrettably BBNZ cannot afford to provide further support at this stage.

New Zealand basketball recently joined FIBA’s Asian qualifying zone. This means our teams will have better playing opportunities, but also greater costs due to more travel and longer tournaments. The expense mostly falls to the players and their families.

Our junior teams are made up of great young men and women who are very talented athletes, backed by supportive families who work so hard to help their kids play to the highest level they can, but the teams need more support.

Use of funds

Funds will go towards assisting the Junior Tall Blacks and their programme expenses as they prepare for the 2017 FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup.
