2019 World University Games, Italy

$1,555 of $7,000 goal

Help me get to the 2019 World University Games to represent NZ. It is a self-funded trip that will cost $10,000 so any help is appreciated!

Auckland

I have done gymnastics for 14 years and have been fortunate enough to be able to travel the world representing my country, to countries such as Azerbaijan, Canada, Germany and Qatar. This year I have been selected to represent New Zealand at my first multi-sport event, the 2019 World University Games. This event will host around 9500 athletes from all over the globe, making it the second largest multi-sport event behind the Olympic Games. Unfortunately due to team restrictions and a lack of government funding the cost of this trip has come to $10,000. I have currently saved $3000 but it is a long and difficult road to achieving the full sum.

I currently have a part-time job in Auckland Council's customer services department, and I study politics at university part-time also. On top of that I train up to 30 hours a week at gymnastics. This is a massive financial responsibility for me to commit to as a 19 year old but I believe the experience that I will gain from this competition will outweigh the financial burden its causing.

Any donations you give will go straight towards basic costs such as flights, accommodation, uniform, participation fees and management fees (to cover the costs of my coach and admin).

I look forward to sharing my experiences with you, and thank you to anyone who chooses to donate.

Harvey

Update!  23 June 2019

23/06

This week we held a gymnastics display, in which I did some floor and highbar for the kids and parents of my gym. It had a great reception and there was an overwhelming amount of support and encouragement - I felt so privileged to have such a great community behind me that want to see myself and Adrian succeed. Rami from the Te Mahia Community Village even pledged $500 toward my trip, which was a wonderful surprise.

To everyone that has donated I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. This page will be active until the games are over, but the support has already far surpassed my expectations and I look forward to flying out on Thursday.

I hope to do you all proud in Italy.

Harvey
