2023 IFSC World Youth Climbing Champs, Korea

Hi, my name is Luka and I am a young rock climber from Auckland. Last year I competed in the NZ National Champs and took out first place in my youth category. As a result, I have been chosen to represent New Zealand in the world champs in Korea. This event will take place in August this year.

The start of my climbing passion began 2 years ago when I was 12 and I fell in love with the sport. I found the challenge, satisfaction, and the additional competition in climbing have motivated me to train and get as skilled as I can. This opportunity will be an amazing experience and a big step up from competing in NZ. Being given the chance to climb with international climbers, travel, represent my country and be amongst like-minded people is just beyond anything I could ask for.

As you know commitments like this aren’t exactly cheap, and unfortunately climbing is not funded in New Zealand. Currently, I am thinking of ways to best cover the trip, and I have roughly 4 months to raise $7000
