3.5km of Glory – A Charity Walk for Stroke Awareness & critical equipment by someone who shouldn't be walking.
Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui
Hello dear friends, unsuspecting colleagues, and innocent bystanders,
I’m doing a walk. A real one. A whole 3.5 kilometres. That’s right—3,500 metres of pure, unfiltered heroism. Or as I like to call it, an ultra-marathon for the tragically unfit. Raising money for critical care equipment for Cook St Nursing Care Centre.
Why?
Because two and a half years ago, I had a stroke.
Like, a proper near-death, drama-filled medical cliffhanger. Picture it: machines beeping, doctors rushing, me lying there thinking, "Well, this escalated quickly."
Thanks to a team of hospital wizards and their magic pinging machines, and my friends and work colleagues, I survived. (Spoiler: I’m the main character, after all.) Then came the awkward part: recovery. Turns out strokes are stingy so-and-so’s, apparently you don’t just bounce back like in the movies
We all know someone who's had a stroke—family, friend, or colleague. Let’s make sure the next person doesn’t have to go through it, or at the very least, has the support when they do. Critical movement equipment or simple physio equipment are worth their weight in gold for those who need it.
Any funds raised will go directly to Cook Street Nursing Care Centre to contribute to purchasing key equipment for the care of their residents.
Because full or partial recovery is possible.
Because support matters.
Employee of my spuse and local care home.
Anna is the Owner/Director of the Care Home
All funds raised will go towards critical medical equipment to measure vital signs to aid patients
