Running 6.4km every 4hours for 48 hours for Otis
Porirua, Wellington
Join me as I run 4 miles (6.4 kms) every 4 hours for 48 hours STRAIGHT to fundraise money for Otis to keep kicking cancers ass!! I'm not a runner, but will end up covering over 77kms, deep in ultra marathon territory to tackle the 4x4x48 challenge.
The why?
Otis is 16 years old, a talented young man from Wellington and a close family friend, he has recently been diagnosed with one of the rarest cancers in the world (desmoplastic small round cell tumours) with only 200 known reported cases world wide and is Stage 4.
The Hill family are looking at all possible options to support Otis, with surgery overseas looking like the best possible option when the tumours in his heart, neck and lungs begin to shrink from chemo therapy. He's making legendary progress, St George Hospital in Sydney are willing to operate on Otis if his next scans look good, but the surgery costs are over $283,000.
The deets?
I'll be starting my run on Friday 11 November at 12pm and finishing on Sunday 13 November at 8am. I'll be running on the hour, every four hours. All runs will be in Mana, Porirua!
If you can spend $10 for a cold beersie afterwork or $5 for a morning coffee, please consider what you could donate to go towards Otis' ongoing medical costs. I've set up an ambitious goal of $5,000 so even a small amount will go a long way!
If you want to lace up your runners and join me for some of the legs, the more the MERRIER! A minimum contribution of $20 per runner applies. Let's get up for Otis!!!

Otis' parents, Tyson and Rachel have been family friends of mine for years. I'm hoping that this push can raise some awareness and help out their son.
The money raised will go towards making a dent towards Otis' ongoing medical costs.
All gas no brakes 11 November 2022
Kicked off the 4x4x48 challenge at 12pm today, with Otis, his family and my family all together at mine sending me off for the first run! It feels good to finally get this bad boy started, after weeks of hard slog and training it's refreshing to actually get into it. I couldn't of picked a better send off, with Otis and all the whanau together.
It's unreal that we're almost at $8,000 – I'm feeling confident that we can get more eyeballs on Otis' rare cancer condition and smash the $10,000 mark to help cover his surgery costs to save his life. But the works not done, so please keep spreading the word and sharing the Givealittle to your rich aunties and uncles lol
So far, the body is feeling good as I'm typing (only after two runs)... I'll see how we feel after a night full of running tonight and the weather packing in. Massive shout out to everyone who's joining/joined in for a run or is sharing this kaupapa – legends. If you want to follow the journey closer, best bet would be to follow on Instagram or my Strava account. The biggest buzz so far has been the creator of the 4x4x48 challenge, the GOAT David Goggins replying to one of my Insta stories. Damn that got me so fired up!
And a cheeky shout out to my partner Bronagh who's biking alongside and keeping me sorted with stretches and nutrition – you're a real one!!! Team effort.
