Jess's Journey To Better Health - Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Hi everyone, we are a group of Jess's friends who have put this page together to try to help her with her Journey. Jess is an amazing person: mum to 3 lovely kids, comedian, improviser, youth worker, and a caring and generous friend.

Jess has tried twice to get this surgery in the public system to no avail and with only 2 per year being publicly funded her chances are looking slim... how ironic! So, we are fundraising to get Jess the surgery she needs to be healthy and so she can be around for her 3 kids.

Jess is considering going overseas to Turkey where this surgery is much more affordable and if we can only raise enough to cover this then she will. But they are now performing the surgery Jess needs at Southern Cross locally. Obviously not having to travel for major surgery would be much better for Jess, so we are hoping we can make it happen.

From Jess:

"I've struggled with weight all my life. I do plenty of exercise and have an active job of being an alternative youth educator for those who need more support.

My condition is a little bit more than being overweight, currently I am morbidly obese through no fault of my own, a combination of genetics and metabolism. I'm in my 40s now and have 3 children who I want to see grow up and I want to be able to keep up with them now."
