Too much, too soon
Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui
Donna lost her two older sons, her mother and her sister in the space of a number of years. All of which ended up leaving her with funeral debt. Recently my mother suffered from a slight stroke which has left her having to leave her job of over 10 years as a in home caregiver to a marriage where she isn’t financially or emotionally supported. She has suffered from memory loss and forgetfulness, black outs and poor mobility. Her home where she was residing was a two level property, she couldn’t access the shower as it was a shower over a bath and she can’t lift her legs over. She has fallen down the stairs there multiplie times as she’s prone to falling and going off balance. I have recently taken her into my care however my property also has stairs which she has fallen down also. We have applied for a suitable rental however getting a bond is difficult as she is not receiving income. We have just been to the doctor to get a letter to support her being on a sickness benefit however this depends on her husbands income as to what she will receive from them. My mother also needs a lift chair so she’s not in pain trying to get up and on the couch. She’s recently given up her car to try squash some debt but unfortunately still has outstandings from funerals and now power, internet bills etc. it’s sad to see my mother in this position especially being that she’s married and getting no help.I have 4 children and am a sole parent,2 of which have disabilities.Any support is appreciated
I am Donna’s second daughter.
Main goal is to move into a suitable and safe home which we will require a bond for and to purchase equipment to help support independence and also to help pay off some debt.
