Marcus & Rayna would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone for their support. They are overwhelmed with people's generosity and kindness. It really means a lot to them.
Kora and Rayna reached Wellington late on Tuesday and were immediately taken to Wellington Hospital via ambulance. Kora underwent a lumbar puncture, a common diagnostic procedure, to confirm or rule out meningitis. Unfortunately, the results came back positive, and they are currently awaiting confirmation of whether it is bacterial or viral. Tomorrow, Kora will undergo a procedure to have a new IV line inserted into her chest for the delivery of antibiotics. The treatment will last for two weeks and may extend if there is no improvement. Kora is also facing difficulty in feeding and requires tube feeding due to her condition.
In addition to the diagnosis, Kora and Rayna have also contracted COVID-19. Unfortunately, Kora's symptoms have worsened today, and she is struggling with a cough that causes her to choke. She seems extremely uncomfortable, and her complexion is pale. This is not the Kora that Marcus and Rayna are used to seeing.
Kora and Rayna have landed safely in Wellington. The next stop is Wellington Hospital.
Kora and Rayna are in the air on their way to Wellington. Flight is now expected to land at 10 pm.
The Air Ambulance is scheduled to leave Nadi around 4:45 pm. There's been a change of plans due to Starship Hospital not having enough beds / space available for Kora so the flight is being redirected to Wellington. Estimated time of arrival in Wellington is around 9 pm.
Kora has received the green light, bringing her one step closer to returning to New Zealand. The Air Ambulance Service is scheduled to leave NZ around 2 pm and is expected to return to Auckland around 8:50 pm.
I received information this morning that the process is underway for Kora to be airlifted to Starship Hospital.
