Teresa McLaughlin's Sky Tower Leap for the Cancer Society

At 94 years old, Teresa (aka Tita) is jumping off Auckland’s Sky Tower, not once but as part of a yearly tradition leading up to her 100th birthday. She also hopes to earn a place in the Guinness World Records as the oldest woman ever to complete the Sky Tower SkyJump.

This year’s jump is especially meaningful. Teresa is fundraising for the Cancer Society of New Zealand, a cause deeply personal to her. She lost her husband to prostate cancer, her daughter bravely battled breast cancer, and she has also lost her sister, brother, and many dear friends to cancer.

Tita knows she is not the only one who has been touched by cancer. This leap is her way of honouring them and supporting others on their own journey.

We are thrilled that the Cancer Society is officially on board. Teresa has been chosen as a Daffodil Day Hero and her SkyJump is part of this year’s national Daffodil Day celebrations.

On Friday 29 August at 12:30 pm, AJ Hackett SkyJump has booked Teresa to take the leap of a lifetime. At the base of the tower, she will be cheered on by a big support crew, the giant Daffodil Day Yeti, family and friends, representatives from NZME, and SkyCity.
