Help us reach out goal for the fit-out of our exciting new building which will benefit the whole community.

Rotorua, Bay Of Plenty

Established in 1942 as the Services Convalescent Hospital for soldiers returning from WW II, the original building was intended as a temporary structure. When the war ended, the centre became Queen Elizabeth Hospital and started receiving patients with rheumatic conditions. Since 2005 the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Community Trust became the sole shareholder of the newly named QE Health, and we continue to provide specialist rehabilitation services in the same basic building which is now "well past it's expiry date".

QE Health has been an asset to Rotorua and NZ since its establishment. Patients attend for relief and rehabilitation of various forms of arthritis, muscle and joint problems, and chronic pain conditions.

The organisation is a significant employer in the city with about 70 staff employed offering rheumatology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, orthotics, psychology, dietetics, gym services, rehabilitation programmes and spa therapies.

Eighty years on from its initial establishment, our rehabilitation service is on the move. The construction of a new building, very close to the original site, has been made possible by loans and some grants. However, as a not-for-profit charitable organisation we need your support to raise funds towards the fit-out of this exciting new space.

Our comprehensive range of services, unique in NZ, along with the spirit that imbues QE, will continue for the benefit of our clients, in our new facility opening in 2023.
