Support Sam get to Badminton World Junior Champs in Spokane USA
Wellington
My name is Samuel Navarra. I am 17 years old and currently a Year 13 in St Patrick's College. I play for and represent Wellington North Badminton. I have been part of the NZ Badminton Junior Programme since 2016. Since a very young age, I have had a strong passion for badminton. I have pushed myself to train hard in order to improve myself.
The highlight for me for this year is being selected to represent New Zealand in Badminton World Junior Champs. The BWF World Junior Championships (WJC) is held annually and hosted over 12 days, with up to 50 teams and 400 players from around the world competing in this prestigious junior event. The event also attracts spectators and badminton fans from across the world, for their glimpse at the junior talent in show.
Unfortunately, badminton is a heavily self-funded sport, with each member of the team having to meet the costs of travelling internationally to represent the country and costs approximately $6000.
Any support that you provide is greatly appreciated.
Badminton has taught me how to be tough, the experience made me develop into a better person. Every coach, players, opponents, friends has taught me something special and has made me who I am today. Most importantly, I have learned that playing badminton is not always about winning or losing – it’s about discipline, sportsmanship and respect.
I am thankful for my family and friends who have been very supportive of me in every step of the way
I am Samuel's mother
