A chance for recovery after 5 years of anorexia!

  • Thank you

      14 August 2023

Thank you so much for all your support. I am now going to close this fundraiser. From here on what ever happens is Olivia's story to tell not mine. I am grateful for you all supporting our goal. I want to continue to encourage people to support Recovered Living directly. It is not easy to put things like this out there in the public eye. There is definitely a need to respect people privacy when they are vulnerable in life, especially in a world were we are increasingly lacking privacy online.

much love to you and your whanau and again thank you

  • Great news!!!!!!!!!!

      6 July 2023

Thank you amazing people we have now secured enough funding for Olivia to go to Recovered Living. We are overwhelmed with the support and generosity. I am just so grateful for the support to give her a opportunity to recover. Any further funds will go towards lengthening her stay if need be or support afterwards.

I really encourage you to donate directly to RL and I really hope funding increases for this deadly heartbreaking illness for more kiwis.

    much love

    Emma

  • News article

Olivia did a very brave thing and spoke to a lovely journalist. Both her and the photographer were compassionate and great listeners. I also really appreciate that the article put Olivia's struggles in the context of the bigger picture of many families who are also dealing with this heartbreaking illness.

I hope we get to contribute to hope and opportunity for many to access more support.

    much love

Kia ora beautiful people Emma here

Its been wonderful to have some time to go through your generous words and donations and say thank you. Its been a quiet few days here with Olivia resting. Also a quiet reflective time for me too after taking the plunge to do this and share. I have felt very overwhelmed by the beautiful feedback and also it is giving me food for thought as to how much people do not know about this life threatening increasingly prevalent illness. I'm happy to share what I can to be in support of others too.

    much love

  • Emergency hospital visit last night

      5 April 2023

I will start by saying I am okay now and at home but I experienced a severe tachycardic episode last night due to severe dehydration from purging and malnutrition. I was taken by ambulance and over 6 hours they got my resting heart rate down from 150 to 90. It was a horrible experience and it's so hard to receive involuntary treatment when you have anorexia shouting in your ear. My doctor felt reassured that I am pursuing treatment and so thankfully I am home with the cat and dog. It's hard to shake thoughts and feelings that I don't deserve or need help but I know I do. Recovered Living is a beacon in my vision every day now. Thank you all for the generous donations, it means more to me than words can express.
