A day in the life of an Orangutan

I am raising funds to help contribute to the construction of the Orangutan Haven, this is the brain child of the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP) which is the world's leading authority on Sumatran orangutan conservation, Sumatran orangutans are one of the most critically endangered primates on earth and need our help ( https://www.sumatranorangutan.org/our-work/creating-new-wild-populations/orangutanhaven/ ). The haven is designed to provide good living conditions for orangutans that cannot be released back to the wild and require ongoing care.

I am a primate keeper myself therefore this cause is very close to my heart and I wanted to do something unique and something that will draw peoples attention and help build awareness. Orangutans are the largest arboreal animals on earth and cannot survive without trees, I recently started Aerial silks classes at Altitude Studios Christchurch central, since being there my strength and confidence has grown immensely, therefore for my fundraiser I would like to challenge myself and spend a full 8 hours above the ground similar to a wild orangutan in the forest.

Due to health and safety reasons I will be taking breaks to stretch for 2 minutes every hour or so and will be accompanied by my instructor who has so kindly offered her support. For every significant amount raised my instructor and I will do something amazing!
