A Farmers Love - Three Cows Saved from Slaughter!

An amazing dairy farm worker located in the Waikato reached out to Sutton Road Animal Sanctuary in a desperate bid for us to rescue three dairy cows who were at the end of their milking life and destined for slaughter. He is very attached to the three girls and couldn't bare to put them on the truck to their death.

We said of course our sanctuary will give them a amazing retirement home at our sanctuary in Taranaki. The owner of the farm wants $500 per cow and then transport costs from Waikato to Taranaki on top of this. This amazing human said no worries I will pay whatever it is to save these cows and get them to Taranaki.

Farm workers have a tough job sending these cows to slaughter and an even harder job finding retirement homes for the lucky ones. We want to support this farmer and thank him for being kind enough and generous enough to give these cows a new lease on life and reward them for their service over the years.

Unfortunately they are struggling to come up with the the money and we desperately want to help him. Being a little charity we dont have the spare money to assist him and this breaks our heart. We also have ongoing costs for these cows to worry about so we rely heavily on donations and sponsors.

These girls are aged between 7-11 years old, they all have very quirky personalities and love the attention. They are like big dogs and deserve to live their life out with love and their fellow fur friends.

Any donations would be hugely appreciated and any money left over will go to the sanctury for the food, grazing and vet care for these cows and the rest of the rescued animals at Sutton Road Animal Sanctuary.
