This page is to raise funds to contribute to a boys life saving surgery in Germany, there are no other choices for treatment here.

I am reaching out and asking for help for our dear friends Mike and Lisa whose family have been dealt a cruel hand.
This is Axl on his first day of school, filled with excitement and possibilities at his bright future.
Fast forward to now and Axl's quality of life is all but gone, as Mike and Lisa watch their son deteriorate in front of them, while they desperately search for answers.
Axl was first diagnosed with Coeliac disease and disaccharidase enzyme deficiency. He is now also diagnosed with severe abdominal vascular compressions.
Causing the below rare diseaeses
• Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome (SMAS)
• Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome (MALS)
• Severe Nutcracker Syndrome which has supressed his renal vein
• May-Thurner Syndrome MTS _ which has restricted his blood flow
• Scoliosis exacerbating the compressions
Axl cannot retain nutrients, and is constantly in a state of malnutrition and dehydration.
Despite the tireless efforts of their medical team in New Zealand, Mike and Lisa have been told there are no available treatments here for Axl’s rare complex conditions.
Specialist teams in Germany will perform 2 surgeries to save Axl's life.
The cost of these surgeries is $249,498. Axl will not survive without this life saving surgery,
Mike and Lisa find it hard to ask for help, knowing them as well as I do, I know that they would be the first to help anyone is this situation. They would be more than grateful for any help at all.
Please keep Axl in your thoughts, thank you.
Lisa and Mike are very close friends of myself and my husband, our son is very good friends with Axl and been right through school with him aswell as Axls younger sister and our daughter who are also friends, they are a part of our extended family.
The operations themselves costing $249k that does not include scanning and further testing. Plus they will need to pay their own accomodation and travel to and from the hospital not to mention flights to and from Germany - non of this is covered or funded.
Thank you 30 March 2025
