Get us B.O.T.H together again or BACK ON THE HORSE!

March 29th, I suffered an horrific horse riding accident riding at my 3rd ever hunt with my local hunt. The weather was great; the people are a caring, fun community that I wanted to become a part of.

But instead, Dash lost a shoe over a wire jump, then stumbled, hard. My C2 vertebrae broke as I landed on the back of my head and I saw Dash drop to one knee. Just as I flattened to the ground he rolled onto me - an immense weight. I knew instantly that I could not move my legs. His weight had caused dislocation of T3-4, bent my spine and fractured 4 ribs.

Now I am a paraplegic with a passion to continue riding for physical and mental health reasons. I have discovered some great NZ role models. I would greatly appreciate any help towards achieving my goal of getting back on my horse who I have had since he was six months old.

I'm now out of the Auckland spinal unit and home. I still have a broken neck, but what keeps me motivated and working to heal, is the idea of one day being able to get back on my horse. My understanding is that ACC will not help to fund the type of gear I will need to get back in the saddle again. I plan to go to the RDA as soon as I'm doctor cleared to learn how to ride as a disabled rider and also how to train my horse to accept me on his back as a disabled rider. Thanks for reading!
