A Mother’s Heart: A Plea for Help

My mother is living in the Philippines, and who has spent her entire life sacrificing for us. As a solo parent, she worked tirelessly to give my brother and me a better future. Now, just as she was about to enjoy her well-earned retirement, she fell ill—diagnosed with pneumonia and an enlarged heart. The worst news came after her 2D echo: her heart valve isn’t functioning properly, and she needs open-heart surgery to survive.

The cost is overwhelming—₱1.4 million (almost NZD 45,000)—an amount my brother and I, despite having stable jobs and families of our own, cannot shoulder alone. We want nothing more than to give our mother the life-saving treatment she deserves, but the financial burden is crushing.
