a chance to prosper for Gihan

Gihan is an economic refugee - he left Sri Lanka in search of a new start and an opportunity to earn money to help his family. Through a family connection Gihan is in Kuwait working in a low-paid job & insufficient income to get ahead let alone send funds back to his family.

In life before covid, we had the privilege to meet Gihan in his capacity as a hospitality and tourism student while he was completing a professional experience placement at a small hotel in Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka. Gihan is bright and capable and eager to pursue his career in international hospitality & tourism: the circumstances of the economic collapse of Sri Lanka left him without a job and unable to continue his studies.

We want to help Gihan get a new start and we have helped create an opportunity for him to live and work in Niue. There is the offer of a well-paid job & training and in order to take this opportunity Gihan needs funds to pay for medicals, police checks, VISA application fees and, eventually, travel to Niue.
