    It turns out that the medical testing clinic erred (seems that samples were mixed up) and Gihan did not have the ailment detected... unfortunately to prove the misdiagnosis he spend 14 days in hospital undergoing a raft of tests over multiple days! It was a double-whammy because the hospital testing fell over the holiday period, which meant some results couldn't be processed. Quite a kerfuffle, and all just to prove he is in fine health. Notwithstanding the financial health took a hit! Now the process to submit all of the paperwork to Niue and, fingers crossed, he can get the VISAs and permissions for a new start. Thanks to all those who have played a small part, financially or just with you encouragement!!

    Kia Ora Givers — and Merry Christmas too!

    The early donations have allowed Gihan to undertake the medicals required for the application to Niue for VISAs and immigration clearance and the process for his sponsor to bring him to Niue is in train. Thanks to all his supporters once again.

    There has been a minor setback because one of the blood tests detected 'Microfilaria', a blood born parasite that can lead to kidney disease and failure. Further investigations have required hospitalisation for a series of tests and for doctors to undertake thorough examinations of blood & health. While the initial bloodwork indicated presence of the parasite, after 3 days in hospital & extensive testing — it turns out the original clinic mixed up blood results!! This misdiagnosis by the original lab leaves Gihan a bit depleted of blood and a lot depleted of cash!

    The good news is Gihan is OK and won't be spending Christmas in the hospital. So now we need to redouble our efforts to top up the funds to make his dream of a new life in Niue a reality!
