A random act of kindness across the world… Help Diego’s body get back home

Yesterday, 14-March-2018 (NZT), Diego Fernando Gomez Plata, aged 34, was enjoying a movie with friends at a cinema in Lima, Peru when he suffered a fatal heart attack. Paramedics at the scene failed to resuscitate him. Diego is a resident of Bucaramanga, Colombia and had been living in Lima, Peru for the last 4 months. This has been a shock to the family and friends who are still trying to come to grasp with what happened. Diego was a gentle, noble soul who loved life, friend, family and books and everything that involve sharing with people.

To be able to repatriate the body from Peru to Colombia, Diego’s family need $7000 USD. To put things into perspective, this is the equivalent of TWO years of salary for a Colombian worker. Diego is part of my extended family; his sister Stella married my brother and I have known him since he was a little boy. I will be donating money to the family; however, it occurred to me that I could go an extra step and put this give a little campaign out there.

I will run this fundraiser for 7 days and then will be depositing the money into the family’s account in Colombia. If you feel like doing a cross-continent random act of kindness please donate. Every little count.
