A very special couple facing life changing times.

David and I have had our lives changed dramatically. I struggle to even express the depth of what we walk through each day. And while these days have been dark, light has come in the form of beautiful, caring, generous people who are family, friends and even strangers. We are humbled beyond words and strengthened by the support we have around us.

If GBM wasn’t enough to deal with, David has spent the past 3 weeks in hospital with Pancreatitis. It is incredibly painful for him and hard to get that pain under control. The family and I are with him almost all the time as the brain tumors have made processing information and communication difficult, as well as short term memory loss. David is tough and is doing all he can to stay strong; but it’s not always easy. His will to live life for me and his family is what keeps him going and what keeps us pushing through day and night.

Travel to Auckland for treatment has also been physically, mentally and emotionally challenging for us but particularly David. The pancreatitis caused him a lot of pain but we had no idea that this was the issue 6 weeks ago. We are in awe as to how he even managed to get there. His oncologist postponed the last two treatments due to his body needing to heal from pancreatitis.

We won’t be giving up any time soon. We have too many things to live for; our family, our future and each other. We do want to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to everyone who has financially supported, prayed, shared this page, sent texts of encouragement, flowers, emails and food! You have all carried us in these very hard times. Thank you all so much.

    Love Lynda

  • Update 3

      4 October 2020

For the past 4 weeks, Pop has been dealing with pancreatitis. It’s a nasty pain in his upper abdomen totally unrelated to GBM. It’s so awful to see him have to deal with this as well and they’re still trying to get his pain meds worked out. He has another treatment In Auckland scheduled this week for GBM.

We are so incredibly proud of Pop and his strength. Admiration of my Nan has reached new heights. She has been by Pops side every day since this hideous diagnosis. She has strength, resilience, faith, patience and love that I have not known was humanly possible. There are pressures coming on them both from every angle but she keeps on fighting, keeps on finding the positive in every day and tells Pop that they can do this together. Proud to have them both as role models in my life❤️ Love you guys x

  • Travel and Treatment

      18 September 2020

Another trip to Auckland was completed over the last 2 days. It’s been a huge effort physically and emotionally to get there. Nan, Pop and a wonderful support person saw Pop’s oncologist and a third round of treatment was given. I’m so incredibly proud of my grandparents and how they support each other in all they are having to go through. No two days are ever the same.Thank you everyone for your prayers and support. Our family are so grateful to you all as Pop now finds strength to recover from the travel and the treatment.

  • Reality Rollercoaster

      7 September 2020

Rollercoasters bring a variety of emotion. Many of them start with wishing you’d never got on. The reality for Nan and Pop right now is a day by day and moment by moment challenge of highs and lows. What is consistent is the incredible love, support and encouragement they have from family, friends and some people they’ve not met. Treatment for Pop has started and has been really tough emotionally and physically. We are grateful for the opportunity to pursue this medical option and pray we see the breakthrough Pop, and all of us who love him greatly, are believing for.
