Please help make Steve's remaining days as comfortably as possible.

Bay of Plenty

After breaking his neck in a motorcycle incident 26 years ago Steve's life changed in an instant. While this left him a wheelchair user and completely paralyzed from below the arm pits, he's made the most of every opportunity. Among these, he ultimately ran the Auckland Wheelchair Rugby club for 10 years, and even managed to wear the Silver Fern while playing for the Wheel Blacks in representing NZ in Wheelchair Rugby.

Unfortunately Steve's just been dealt a second blow! After initially beating Stage 4 non hodgkin lymphoma cancer earlier this year, it's now come back stronger and the Doctors don't have any answers to fight it off again.

This page has been set up to help Steve relocate to Tauranga to spend his remaining time with family. It will also help fund some alternative treatment options of high does vitamins and potential Car-t Cell Therapy, and anything else which may increase his chances to possibly beat this again.

Without help, he may end up spending his remaining time in a retirement village. As he's only 46 years young, his family and friends are hoping to avoid this.

Use of funds

Any money raised will go towards finding and setting up a wheelchair friendly home in Tauranga, paying for alternative cancer treatments (high dose vitamins, potentially Car-t Cell Therapy and anything else which may increase his chances to possibly beat this again), helping Steve tick off any Bucket-List dreams, and generally making his remaining time as comfortable as possible.

Huge thanks to all for sharing or donating  6 January 2020

Just a quick update to let everyone know that Steve has arranged a hospital to hospital transfer and will finally be moving to Tauranga sometime this week to be closer to his family.

Unfortunately finding accessible private accommodation thus far has been difficult, but everyone is hoping more options will come available soon with people returning to their usual routines after the Christmas break.

Again, Steve and his family would like to thank everyone for the love and support through this difficult time.
