Aaliyah has just finished her month of immunotherapy and has enjoyed having some energy back and even managed to get back to school for a few days!

Last week Aaliyah was meant to start her next chemo cycle but unfortunately her blood counts were not high enough to start. This week her counts had improved and she started her 4th 8 week round on Wednesday. The first day was a big one for her with lots of chemo but she has taken it like a champ as always.

Aaliyah has had a great few days full of love welcoming her new baby brother into the world with her dad Nikora and step Mum Jordan, and has a new best friend to keep her company, Rosie the sausage dog!

This next cycle is very intense and is “the last big push” to fight this leukaemia.

Thank you to everyone who is keeping Aaliyah in their thoughts and checking in on us and helping, it means the world to us all.

    Xxxx

  • Shine for a Cure

Today is Wig Wednesday! Many businesses and people are raising funds for children with cancer, and Aaliyah is off to school with her Aunty Kobie to help support this amazing charity.

Saturday 20 September is the Shine for a Cure walk in Balclutha, where we will be raising funds for blood cancer and leukaemia. Come and join us for a walk, Mr Whippy, face painting and a hair shave auction!

Aaliyah has had a long 8 weeks with fortnightly trips to Christchurch for chemotherapy. She has been an absolute trooper throughout it all, and is finally starting to perk up after receiving an NG tube.

Unfortunately it is still a long road ahead, but Aaliyah and her family are standing strong ❤️

  • Aaliyahs update

Aaliyah is 3 weeks into her third chemotherapy cycle, this cycle has been a tough one with lots of sickness and hospital stays. Aaliyah has 3 chemotherapy cycles left and one immunotherapy cycle left, with a tentative finish date for March 2027. We are hoping things will get easier as the winter bugs subside and give her a little break. We have 4 more trips to Christchurch left then we will be able to complete the rest of the treatments in Dunedin all going well.

  • Immunotherapy stage

Aaliyah is two weeks into the immunotherapy stage, which is so far going well. This is where she is having a 24 hour infusion running for 29 days, through a backpack constantly connected to her.

After the 29 days, Aaliyah and her whānau will return to Christchurch for one week, every two weeks for high dose chemotherapy.

Aaliyah is still taking everything in her stride and has been amazingly brave throughout. We still have a long, tough road ahead but we are with her every step of the way❤️

  • Back home

Aaliyah has been back home for almost three weeks, however, it hasn’t been an easy ride. Aaliyah has been travelling back and forth to Dunedin for treatment almost every week day, and she has had two admissions to Dunedin hospital. She is still in Dunedin hospital, with Leah really not feeling well, but she is an absolute trooper and taking everything in her stride!

Aaliyah and her whānau are looking at another 29 days in Christchurch for the month of June, with extended family planning on travelling up to help throughout.

Emma will be finishing her maternity leave shortly, so things are going to get a little tougher for Aaliyahs mum and step-dad, but her entire whānau are all so strong we just know they’ll continue kicking leukaemia’s butt!

Thank you again for all the continued support and love, we appreciate every single one of you x

  • Aaliyah has finished her induction!🥳

Aaliyah has officially finished her 29 day induction! She took her final medication this evening after being an absolutely amazing trooper for the last 29 days. Hospital visits, surgeries, daily medications, port changes, tests and more, Aaliyah kept her head held high and smashed them all💪

We are all so incredibly proud of Aaliyah and her whānau for how strong they have all been during this first treatment phase, it hasn’t been easy and we know the finish line is still far away but Aaliyah is one step closer and did amazingly!

Aaliyah will have another bone marrow and spinal fluid check this Monday to see how well she has reacted to her treatment, and the next 2 years will be planned out from these results.

Thank you all so much again for the continued support, Aaliyah is so loved and it’s so incredible to see how our community has rallied in our time of need❤️

  • Aaliyahs second week

      19 March 2025

Aaliyah is in her second week of treatment. First week of treatment done ✅

Aaliyah has handled it all like an absolute champ, she has been very involved in all of her procedures, working with the nurses to take IVs out and dressings. I think we were all more nervous than she was!

We couldn’t be any more proud of our girl and how she is handling everything.

Aaliyah got her first lot of beads of courage and by the amount of beads, you can see how busy she’s been over the last week.

    Here’s to 1 week down. 🩷💪🏽

All the support and love has been amazing, and we are so thankful to every single person for their continued help and love for Aaliyah. Thank you all ❤️

    Hi everyone,

We would just like to thank every single person who has sent us a message, donated, or even just had Aaliyah in your thoughts. The generosity of our community has been absolutely overwhelming, and we are incredibly lucky and grateful for all of the support we have received for Aaliyah. Aaliyah has been so strong and brave these last few days we couldn’t be anymore proud of our little trooper. Aaliyah will start her chemotherapy treatment on Monday so we are spending the weekend walking, watching ducks, eating and laughing together. Please continue to keep Aaliyah in your thoughts. These are a couple of photos Aaliyah has asked me to share with everyone. “Thank you for the donations and thank you to people sending pictures and thank you for saying kind words, please send me pictures ” - Aaliyah XXX
