Help us to raise the funds needed to purchase a Cough Assist Machine for Amy.
Canterbury
Amy is my bestie, and was born with a neuromuscular condition called IFSH Muscular Dystrophy. This causes gradual muscle wasting and can make even the simplest of tasks difficult.
Part of this condition makes it difficult for the lungs to expand properly, making Amy prone to breathing issues, and making it next to impossible for her to cough - which can get dangerous.
Over the past few years this degeneration coupled with cold & flu season, has ended in numerous hospital admissions.
The biggest difference we have found in both recovery and preventative health is a device called a Cough Assist Machine, affectionately known as Cam.
While in hospital a Cam is usually found for Amy to use but due to their cost they are sometimes being shared between multiple patients. Once discharged home they are harder still to source, and then only for a short term loan.
As well as this valuable use the Cam is able to be used as a type of regular respiratory physio during Amys well times, and used to assist clearing the airway in the event of choking which has been a concern in the past.
With all of this in mind, and the knowledge that government funding is non-existent for this device, we have decided it is time we got a Cam for Amy's personal use, by way of crowd funding.
This Give A Little page is to fund Amy a Philips Respironics E70 Cough Assist Machine. For the unit and the necessary equipment needed to enable Amy to use it independently, the cost is approximately NZD $12,000.
We thank you for taking the time to read this, and for considering this cause for your donation. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Amy has been my bestie for 15years, and has always been there with support whenever I've needed it. So of course when this need came up, I was keen to help.
