A Car for Cameron

  • A Big Thank You!

      9 April 2015

Hello everyone, firstly, Cameron's family would like to thank everyone for their great generosity and for raising the amount we have so far! It is unbelievable and they thank you from the bottom of their hearts!

Although, we must share some bad news. The car that Cameron's family are currently using broke down yesterday (the white family car). So now, we have no transport at all, and it's the middle of the school holidays! So now we are even more in need of extra help and your donations will help. The amount we have so far will be used towards the repairs of this car, and we have also extended our Give a Little page so we can keep raising for our ultimate goal of buying $25,000 mobility van with an approved hoist.

Moreover, Cameron has been doing exceptionally well at school and he has been learning new words very fast. He is able to tell a story all by himself, and does his best in all his lessons. Let's keep Cameron in school by helping his family get a van so he can get to school everyday and continue his education and improvement.

Once again thank you for donating and even just reading our story to see how you can help. You are a good hearted person and we admire you.

  • A Fundraiser with Te Reo Singalong!

      20 December 2014

Hi everyone! :) Just want to let you all know about the fundraiser that was held at Café Fresca on Tuesday with Te Reo Singalong, who performed. Te Reo Singalong books are written by Cameron's aunty, Sharon Holt. Here's what Louise had to say about the night and how it all went: :)

"Wow! So many people to thank.

Thank you to Stu from Cafe Fresca for donating the use of our venue - his cafe. I highly recommend you check it out for your next coffee and cake. As you can see from one of these photos, taken a short time ago, Cameron enjoys the refreshments a lot!

To Te Reo Singalong books team and Sharon Holt, children's author for providing a wonderful show and an amazing raffle prize.

To Judy Neill for her wonderful crafts and gifts that she generously donated part of her sale money to Cameron's van.

To each and every one of the people who attended tonight and gave a donation at the door. A lot of you I do not know, yet still you came and donated. Plus those that we do know - you still came and donated! Haha.

Without you we could not have raised $331.

The need for a van in our lives is great, and it is a big investment. Once we get this van it will change our lives - but I reckon my life has already changed for the better at just how much generosity people have for one another.

    Thank you"

What a great event, it was a gold coin entry, and it was so successful! Every bit counts x

  • Movies, Santa, and a Big Thank You!

      21 October 2014

Happy Holidays everyone! Here is a look at our Class trip to the movies. Here's what Louise, Cameron's lovely mum had to say about the day:

"Cameron had a huge day. As part of a gift to Cameron's class, he went to his very first movie at the cinema - Paddington Bear. He then got to have a little chat to Santa, although he was brave enough just to nervously smile!

He is still chatting away(in bed!) about the names of everyone who went along. I think he is quite happy to have had school time in a different environment and to make the connection with a world he would never normally see with his friends."

We also want to take this opportunity to say thank you all for the donations we've received so far. It is so heart warming and we are very grateful that Cameron has so many people willing to help :)

  • School Holidays!

      30 September 2014

School's out and the weather is getting warmer :) Cameron always misses school while he's away, and we can't wait to see him back on the 13th of October. We hope all kids out there have fun, and please wish Cameron's family a fun time too!

  • Cameron's Happy Dance

      3 September 2014

Here's a little video of our little man Cameron doing his thing in his walker at school. This physical therapy is part of the holistic learning at the Conductive Education Unit, and as you can see, Cameron enjoys it very much!

  • Our revised goal amount :)

      1 September 2014

I recently answered a question about how much our goal amount was to raise here on Givealittle, and I answered that it was $8,000. But, after speaking with some more knowledgeable experts about the cost of a van that would be best suited to Cameron's needs, it is nearer the $20,000 mark. To explain the huge margin between what we originally thought was enough and the realised goal, is that the van must fit not only a lift, but a hoist, which is only available for funding if the car is worth more than the hoist itself (and hoists for a car are about $14,000 or more dependent on the size!). Therefore, we are hoping to raise as much as possible, and we appreciate all donations big or small. :)

  • The car I use with my family at present :)

      27 August 2014

I've posted some pictures of our family member's car I am using at the moment, and the car seat I have to sit in. Look at the boot, not made for a wheelchair, no sir!
