Please support the ADHB Chaplains by supporting me to do the New York Marathon
Auckland
My name is Carol James and I am doing the New York Marathon on 1st November 2015 and would like to use it as an opportunity to raise some money for the Auckland City Hospital Chaplains. As a long time Volunteer Chaplaincy Assistant I know the wonderful work that they do. Chaplains visit anyone in the hospital, including staff, family, friends as well as patients of any nationality, faith, or creed. There is no distinction because everybody needs someone particularly in their hour of need. That means anyone of any faith including those who do not profess to have one can have a Chaplaincy visit if they would like one.
Although it is Government mandated that hospitals have a Chaplaincy Department in order that patients are treated holistically which includes their physical, mental, social and spiritual wellbeing, only 50% of funding is provided. That is one of the reasons why there are quite a number of volunteers.
The Chaplains do a wonderful job and are available 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. None of us know whether there will come a day when we too will welcome a visit from a Chaplain so if anyone would like to sponsor me to do the New York Marathon via Givealittle all the money raised will be given to the Auckland Hospital Chaplaincy Department.
I've been a Volunteer Chaplaincy Assistant at Auckland Hospital for the past 15 odd years and would like to raise some funds for the full-time Chaplains.
