Riding to support Mercury Bay Cancer Support Trust Charity
John McKenzie is a resident of Whitianga, a small seaside town in the Coromandel, New Zealand.
2 years ago John lost a good friend to cancer and as a result struck up an association with the Mercury Bay Cancer Support Trust.
In January 2023 John and a group of friends rode from Cape Reinga to Bluff, raising money to help the MBCST buy a van.
Following on from that, this January (2024) John & a friend are riding the Sound to Sounds (S2S) route, from Queen Charlotte Sound to Milford Sound. That ride takes them down the middle of the South Island through remote valleys and over some huge mountain passes. The ride is expected to take about 3 weeks.
Use of funds
The money raised will be paid to Mercury Bay Cancer Support Trust to help to support cancer sufferers and families in Mercury Bay & surrounds, from diagnoses to treatment, recovery & beyond as required.
