A funding page dedicated to the creation of a new purpose built community focused not-for profit gymnastics facility based in Rolleston, NZ

Canterbury

Affinity Gymnastics Academy Incorporated provides Artistic Gymnastics activities through a number of programmes such 'Gymnastics for All' and competitive programme structures. The organisation is based in Canterbury in the heart of the Selwyn District in one of the fastest growing townships in New Zealand, Rolleston. The Selwyn District has been identified by Gymnastics New Zealand as one of the fastest and largest growth areas based on the number of participation age groups for gymnastics activities. The development of a sub-regional hub has been highlighted as a key facility development in Gymnastics New Zealand’s Facility Strategy which was created in 2017.

Currently there are no dedicated gymnastics facilities in the Selwyn District and Affinity Gymnastics Academy will be a new community focussed gymnastics sub-regional facility which will support the Gymnastics NZ strategy and furthermore provide access to the sport for the community avoiding the need for excessive travel.

As an Incorporated Society, Affinity Gymnastics Academy is a membership based organisation which is governed by a committee formed by its members. The gymnastics programmes will be delivered by fully qualified, experienced, national and internationally trained coaches. A cornerstone of the organisation will be to train young people and assist them to become qualified gymnastics coaches and afford them the opportunity to realise their potential.

Affinity Gymnastics Academy will be a dedicated artistic gymnastics facility located in Izone in the Township of Rolleston. The founding members have engaged with the Selwyn District Council and have received tremendous support to establish the facility to serve the community.

The whole community of Selwyn will benefit from the activities delivered by Affinity Gymnastics Academy. Benefits will be far reaching and include but not limited to; local employment opportunities, less travel for participants and their families, encouragement of participation in the sport by young people in the community to become more focussed, healthier and improve motor skills and coordination for young children including those with disabilities.

Funds raised from this page will be put towards the purchase of essential equipment and apparatus.
