Helping Agustin's family to pay the Hospital Bill

Canterbury

There is no need to physically know someone to help.

Hola, I am Cinthya. I live in Christchurch, New Zealand, but I was born in Lima, Peru. I moved here for love and product of that I am a mother of 2 amazing boys. Once I became a mother I could understand my mum, grandma, my friends who were mums before me. In this world, there is no more pure and infinitive love than a parent.

A few days ago, my family in Peru told me a story about a warrior. His name is Agustin and he was almost 8 years old. When he was 2 years old he was diagnosed with cancer. For years he fought for his life and a couple of years ago he was released from the hospital. He was free of cancer. What a relieve, what an achievement for this boy who couldn't love life more!

However, 3 months ago, Agustin started to feel sick again. His immune system was very low and therefore infections and sickness were attacking him. A few weeks later, his family was devastated when doctors told them that Agustin has Leukaemia.

More medical tests immediately started to get Agustin ready for treatment. One more time, this warrior was submitted to the hospital to start Quimiotherapy.

Through my family and a Facebook group ("Salud para Agustin"), I started to following Agustin and his family new journey. Not the best journey to be honest, in fact, it killed Agustin just a few hours ago.

This is Agustin latest medical story:

The first 2 quimiotherapy treatments went good enough however as Agustin immune system was very low, he couldn't be released from the hospital. Suddenly Agustin's legs started to get swollen, he was having extremely stomachaches, to the point that he had to have emergency surgery to the intestines as they were twisted and blocked. His chest was also inflamed as the liver was getting compromised for all the medication in his body. Agustin was developing an infection of Klebsiella. An infection caused by a bacteria that anyone can get it; but as our warrior was very weak, Agustin body couldn't resist anymore. Agustin passed away at 11:45 pm (Peruvian time) on February 18th, 2019.

I can't comprehend Agustin's parent's desperation, pain, frustration and anger. There are no words of consolation, comfort that can bring Agustin back. Why? Why children?

Agustin fought for his life in Clinica San Felipe in Lima, Peru. His medical insurance will not cover some treatments, medicine and the stay in this private hospital.

I have spoken with a member of Agustin's family and the medical bill is now 175,000 Peruvian soles (approx of US$52K// NZ$77K) and if not paid, the hospital can keep the body of little Agustin (I don't know for how long). In a third world country like Peru, where the law doesn't work, anything is possible, especially evil things like this.

Please help me to HELP Agustin's family to have a little bit of peace. Their now financial situation after such awful times is chaotic.. More importantly than that, we want Agustin to rest in peace and for his family to say a proper good bye.

My goal is to reach $5000, hopefully, we pass the goal but if not, every cent is worth for this cause.

Agustin from heaven and his family will be greatly appreciated.

My 36th birthday is coming soon, but I don't need presents as the biggest gift from you can be a donation towards Agustin's family.

Rest in peace little warrior!

MUCHAS GRACIAS

Thank you very much!

The Hospital Bill!  1 March 2019

As mentioned before, little angel Agustin, left us on February 18th. His family is simply devastated however they are not alone and people from Peru and other countries are with them trying to give them as much as support as they need in any way.

This March 10th, it will be a big event in Lima, Peru to fundraise money towards the Hospital Bill. This total Hospital bill is around US$45K. Any raised money will be 100% to pay this bill and for Agustin's family to have a breath of peace being able to pay it.

If they do not pay, the family faces losing their properties like their house. This is the reality in 3rd world countries.

Please donate, please help this amazing and humble family who already had enough.

Gracias

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
