Hi,
Thank you for visiting our page!
My names is Alana, I am 20. Along with my three younger sisters Ella 17, Amelia 14 and Maia 10 we have created this Givealittle page For Mardie, Our mum. Shes not very good at asking for help herself, so we have got this page up and running and hope to have something to surprise her with on the 23rd of December which is her birthday but would also double as her Christmas present!
Three Years ago Our mum had a Accident, she fell 8m off a private flying fox and was left paraplegic. Shes a single mum who cares for us and still makes sure we get the best schooling and sporting opportunities! shes makes sure we are happy so its our turn to try and give something back to her. We really want to help give her back her legs! We know it sound impossible but it Isn't, Trust us, all she need is one chance so that she can give it all! After being told she was a complete Spinal Cord Injury following her accident in 2013 Mum tried to put the thought of ever being able to walk again out of her mind. However her neurological physio started to notice muscle activation below the level of injury in late 2015 and started to work with this. Mum and Gilly Davy (senior neurological physiotherapist) were teamed up in April 2016 and after 5 months of hard work Mum was able to take her first assisted steps on a treadmill. She has also been practicing standing (in 30sec intervals) and crawling. This is no small Feat, to get here mums having to do 5 hours of Rehab a day every single day! Her improvements in feeling and moving is very promising but we need help getting her to the next step (excuse the pun). Who knows how far she can go but we will keep you updated on the journey!
So the main aim of this page is to help fund Vital equipment and resources to help Spinal cord recovery. We not only want to help mum but also her physio, Gilly. We want to help get equipment for Gilly to use at her Clinic so that she can help mum and all of her other amazing patients! its not cheap but its worthwhile!
