Funds to support Lexi during her cancer treatment, reconstruction surgery and ongoing care.
Auckland
Lexi Wilson is a tough 4 year old. Lexi was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in February of 2018. The tumour started on Lexi's lower skull and grew down into her spine. Lexi has bravely navigated more than 12 procedures, including one very long (14 hour) surgery to remove the tumour. She will need to wear a halo brace while undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Further reconstruction and spinal fusion surgery will be needed before the halo brace can be removed.
There have been many complications given the nature of the surgery required, but Lexi is one tough cookie and has risen to every challenge thrown at her. This page has been set up to help Lexi and her family meet the costs of looking after Lexi while she goes through chemotherapy and surgery and to help with her future rehabilitation.
I am Lexi's Dad. Lexi was diagnosed with osteosarcoma bone cancer) in early February 2018. Lexi has undergone numerous operations and is now facing months of chemotherapy and reconstructive surgery.
Funding will be to help support Lexi and her family (removing some of the financial burden) while she is being treated for her cancer, during her reconstruction surgery and eventually her rehabilitation.
Update on Lexi 21 October 2018
Hi all, We wanted to give you an update Lexi's progress. On Wednesday (the first week of the holidays) Lexi was allowed to come home from hospital. Lexi is doing really well and we are really enjoying being home together as a family again. Lexi's last scans showed no evidence of cancer in her body. Her chemo has finished, so from a treatment perspective she has moved into surveillance. Which is really good news. She still has some surgical wounds which are taking a long time to heal and she will need to have further operations for reconstruction. We are waiting to hear when those will be.
Thank you all for your support over the last 8 months.
Kathy and Matt Wilson.
