Well it’s been 3 weeks since the big op and Alfie is healing like a wee champ.

His pins remain insitu with no issues.

He no longer requires pain relief.

His appetite is back, and he loves ice cubes in his water on these hot days.

He’s coping with his confinement far better than anticipated.

Back to the Vet next week, check in for another update then.

We are extending the timeframe of this page as Alfie’s costs are significant. He also has ongoing costs, including vet check ups, getting the pins removed and physio for rehabilitation.

Alfie and the Kennedy team appreciate the ongoing support and donations.

  • 2nd Alfie update

Alfie came home to Kennedy on Tuesday morning, following surgery on Monday afternoon.

The vet said the surgery went really well.

Staff and clients are glad to see him home where he is receiving round the clock care.

Alfie is doing well but has a long road ahead of him.

He is convalescing in the staff room where he has contact with people throughout the day. Alfie doesn’t realise it yet but he won’t be allowed out of his crate for six weeks to allow for healing to take place. For now he is settled and enjoying being back with his big family.

Many thanks to all for your support and donations.

    -The Kennedy Team

  • Quick Alfie Update

      31 December 2018

Alfie goes into surgery this afternoon.

His leg is broken in three places with loose bone shards.

The surgery is external fixation of his leg, this means rods will be fixed externally for around 6weeks to keep his leg straight and give his bones a chance to calcify and repair.

The surgery will cost around $3,500.

Alfie has a long road to recovery.

Thanks to the fantastic veterinary team and generous donations.
