Wow what a whirlwind past month it has been. From absolute rock bottoms due to the nasty side effects of the chemo, some days felt like the world wasn’t even spinning, Alfie like usual has fought the big fight and has come out on top, with his blood counts sky rocketing through and the doctors classing him “fully engrafted” Alfie’s transplant has been a miracle. Alfie’s grace and determination is motivational and witnessing first hand the absolute strength in such a tiny human is just humbling. We are beyond proud of him and so incredibly grateful for the overwhelming supporting we have received throughout his journey so far. We are still facing small set backs but Alfie is due to be discharged down to the Ronald McDonald house next week, where we will stay for the next 2-3 months. We also celebrated Alfie’s 3rd birthday in hospital 🥳 where we were lucky enough to spend cherished time with whanau outside of the hospital.

Looking forward to updating you all again once we are settled back down in our apartment for the foreseeable future 💕

    Tēnā koutou katou,

We are 8 days post Bone Marrow transplant and to say it’s been a rough week would be an understatement.

From a medical perspective, Alfie is doing really well and they are pleased with how he is progressing, it’s just the post chemo side effects that he is struggling with now.

We are well in to the hair loss stage, we ended up shaving what was left of Alfie’s hair to make him more comfortable as he was just shedding it everywhere. Alfie has been struggling with the toxicity side effects of the chemo, but we believe we have had our hardest days now.

We are nearly half way through our hospital stay, if Alfie keeps smooth sailing we will be discharged in to the Ronald McDonald house in 3 weeks time, so Alfie can stay close to the hospital for the next 3-4 months while he undergoes close monitoring the ensure his transplant is holding well.

Another thank you for all the kind messages, donations, thought and prayers. No one has gone un noticed and we are thankful for every single person who has helped us so far on this bizarre journey.

Looking forward to updating you all again soon.

    Ngā mihi 💕

Hello friends, family, and generous strangers. We are absolutely blown away and incredibly humbled by the insane support we have received from not only the people we know and love but strangers who have been touched by Alfie’s story, I can’t say enough thanks to each and everyone of you, we see you and we appreciate you.

Alfie has started his chemotherapy journey and although it is tough on his wee body he has proved time and time again just what an amazing wee soldier he truly is 🤍 it’s amazing being present with him not having to worry about financial issues and knowing that we can solely focus on Alfie and his recovery. Looking forward to updating you all soon after Alfie has his Bone Marrow Transplant on the 4th of June.

Tēnā rawa atu koe, thank you all so much.

To all the generous people who have selflessly donated, there are simply not enough words to explain how much this means to us. Big or small, your donation is allowing our whanau to stay together during this challenging time. We appreciate everyone’s kind words and hopeful messages. Ngā mihi ki a koe
