Please help our Art for Change refugee background artist, Sayed Ali Karam Jawhary prepare for his first solo exhibition in New Zealand.
Auckland
This is a wonderful opportunity for Ali, thanks to the fantastic team at Depot Artspace, who are hosting the exhibition. Framing his beautiful calligraphy works is a financial challenge for Ali. A number of good frames have been donated, and a very generous framing company has offered to make the works as professionally presented as possible for just the cost of materials.
Ali is also being supported by Art for Change, New Zealand Red Cross and Auckland Refugee Family Trust (Ali was the first refugee that ARFT brought into New Zealand, 5 years ago).
Art for Change is passionate about assisting refugees in New Zealand to find their place in their new home country, and to be able to share the rich skills and talents they bring to our culture.
Art for Change are seeking funds to pay for the framing for Ali's exhibition, and also to help cover other costs associated with holding the exhibition, including catering for the opening event, and the printing of posters and flyers.
THIS IS WHAT YOUR KIND DONATIONS HAVE ACHIEVED 2 December 2017
Now that the donations page is closed and Ali's exhibition has just opened today, a last heart-felt thank you to all the wonderful people who have helped to make Ali's work look absolutely stunning. We would also like to thank Barry & Liz at FramesPlus whose generosity with framing costs made it possible to frame all Ali's works for the exhibition with new frames. Thank you all so much.
