Ash Pointon is fighting cancer. Father of 5, grandfather of 4.
He's given over 40 years to his community playing and coaching different sports locally, nationally and internationally.
He's been a stalwart of the Wellington community spirit and has given so much.
The Wellington Lions have generously donated 600 tickets to next weeks match with all proceeds going to Ash and his family to asisst in their financial burden.
Many people have said they would like to give back and support him but can't make it to the game for various reasons.
This page is an opportunity for people to show their support if they would like.
Currently Dad is still working full-time (against recommendations) to provide for his family.
The money raised will be used to cover costs associated with his treatment and relieve some of the financial stresses that have come with his illness.
I'm his son...and I can't fish or dive very well but I'm the most tech savvy one of the family (eat that Scott). This is my way of helping.
I know many people would like to contribute but can't make the game so I'd like to give them that opportunity
Final Update from Ash 19 December 2016
How fantastic was that, can’t say enough about it really.
What has really been touching is the seeing the names of young people that I coached back in the 90’s as juniors 7-8 yrs old.
I really enjoyed coaching with you fellas along with my children and the great parents that many of you have, it's a way of life for us.
It was a joy seeing you achieve at whatever level you were capable of at that time.
I can’t believe you remember me. If you see me or Moana please say hello and have a catch up.
