  • THE ALPACAS HAVE ARRIVED!

Thank you all so much for your incredible support. We were so encouraged by the steady flow of donations, that we got the alpacas transported here at the end of last week. They are beautiful animals and though quite timid for the first couple of days, they are quickly becoming more confident and are now coming toward the kids and me when they see us enter their paddock with treats and hay:)

We had the vet out on Monday and she assessed all of them. The overall report is that they are all in pretty good shape, which is wonderful news and surprising considering they were left with hardly anything to eat and others were left dead in the paddock.

Though we had initially been led to believe that there were 10 alpacas in need, we ended up receiving 9, including two babies and one female. The two babies (known as cria) are probably around 6 months old and are doing well. We have separated the female out and added her to our existing herd of females and wethers.

Our children have enjoyed naming them. So on behalf of Whistle, Fog, Rudolph, Manny, Magic, Nemo, Squirt, Bambi, and Tui, thank you all again for your generosity!
