Amelia’s Journey
New Plymouth, Taranaki
29/01/2025
Amelia went to an appointment at her local optometrist 9.30 due to recent complaints due to headaches and migraines.
This lead to a day of tests - a trip to New Plymouth to another specialist eye place - followed with a hospital visit- admission and finally today a diagnosis of a pineal tumour. 30/01/2025
As some of you may know the family already - Amelia’s little brother bodhi was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2023. The family are still on there journey with Bodhi and now have been thrown in the deep end again.
Courtney and Amelia will fly from New Plymouth today at 4.15 catch the air ambulance to starship in Auckland for treatment and further diagnosis
Mac is staying behind to organise care for their four other children aged 3-12
As well as ongoing chemo for Amelia’s little brother bodhi.
As I’m sure we can all appreciate these are the times we need to band together to support and help
These donations will go towards direct day to day care of the four kids who will be cared for by the village of love and support left at home in Taranaki
As well as ongoing costs for those caring for the kids travel etc
And anything Courtney and Amelia might need while they are away
Everything’s in the air at the moment and the last thing we want is more stress and worry for Courtney and Mac while they try to navigate this new journey they have found themselves on.
Aunty to Amelia - sister to Courtney Neil
Day to day care/cost for the Mac and the four kids left here in Taranaki - as well as direct costs Courtney and Amelia may have whole in a different city

We’re absolutely blown away 🇳🇿❤️
I’ve been trying to find the right words to share this, but honestly there just aren’t enough. How do you truly say thank you for something like this? How do you put into words the way this has made us feel?
We are shocked, blessed, and completely overwhelmed by New Zealand’s kindness, support, and love. Emmett’s incredible haircut fundraiser for Bodhi and Amelia has raised over $33,000– something we never could have even imagined.
Because of all of you, for the first time in 8 years, we are officially debt free. That alone is life-changing. We’re also hoping to take the kids away for a little weekend at some stage – something we’ve never been able to do. Just to breathe, reflect, and reset together as a family. That means more than you will ever know.
To every single person who donated, shared, or sent such kind, encouraging messages – thank you. Truly. From the deepest part of our hearts. Even saying "thank you" feels so small compared to what you’ve given us, but please know how much it means.
To Emmett – you’re such an incredible, big-hearted young man. And to your amazing mum Kylee Lawrence – thank you for raising someone so special and for standing beside us with so much love.
And to 7 Sharp thank you for shining a light on this beautiful act of kindness and helping our families share it with everyone.
We will never forget this. We’re still in awe. ❤️
Lots of love
The Neil family xx
