We would like to raise funds to fly Tenei's partner to NZ and accommodation while he's is in Christchurch receiving treatment.
Canterbury
On May 3rd 2020 four American Samoan Firefighters were involved in a fire truck rollover, two of which were killed. Tenei Fonoigafo suffered spinal injuries and was flown to New Zealand from American Samoa to receive medical care. He is currently in a spinal unit in Christchurch, stuck in New Zealand with very little family or belongings. As a part of this year's September 11th Memorial Event in which fallen New York and Kiwi firefighters are remembered we have taken the opportunity to help a fellow Brother who's miles away from his home and family. We're asking that the greater New Zealand firefighter family donate a few dollars to help keep him in touch with home, we are also looking at flying his partner to NZ once she is able due to Covid . At this stage, we're unsure how long Tenei's recovery will take and we'll try and keep you updated. Local Firefighters are dropping in to catch up and support him.
Event organiser for the NZ Firefighters Memorial Climb on September 11th Remembering the FDNY's and NZ Fallen firefighters, thought it was a nice thing to raise Funds for Tenei as he is isolated from his family and needs support while in NZ.
The funds would assist in flying Tenei's wife to NZ and her accommodation while he's is in Christchurch receiving treatment.. Any surplus funds will be donated to the NZ Spinal Trust that's supporting him with his treatment.
