Amiria’s Brain Surgery Journey

  • Week Four Post Op

      3 April 2025

    Kia Ora Whanau, we finally got some answers back regarding Amiria’s Surgery and the diagnosis is a Pituitary Adenoma which is a Pituitary Neuroendocrine Tumour 🥺

    She has lots more appointments and will be monitored closely as there’s a chance it could come back 🤦🏻‍♀️

    But on a good note they are confident that for now it’s all gone ❤️

    Post op 4 weeks now and shes doing great, still getting headaches, tires quick but up n about - getting hoha wanting to get back out there on the field but can’t just yet.

    Back to Wellington Hospital today for Amirias Eye Specialist and thankfully no damage has been caused to her optic nerve 🙏 another boxed ticked ✅

  • Day Four !!

      9 March 2025

    Day Four:

    A frustrating day for Amiria, stuck in bed lying flat for a few days because there is a positive result for a spinal fluid leak. If this doesn’t work then she will require further surgery to repair the leak. She's talking, laughing, crying, tired, bored and obviously scared 🤕

    On a good note, we got whanau time, had karakia, a kai and I got all my kids in one room ❤️

  • Day Three

    She’s been up for a little bit, got some fresh air and is feeling better ❤️‍🩹

    Looking pretty amazing considering only 30 hours ago she had her skull drilled up through her nose into her brain 😰

    CT scan was clear, nose bleeds and vomiting seems to have stopped so she’s back tucked up in bed, drugged up and ready to sleep and heal 🥰

    I read her your messages and she said to thank every single one of you 😘

  • Quick update after a long and stressful day whanau

      8 March 2025

    Amiria is currently as comfortable as can be fast asleep on some good drugs after a pretty intense and scary day 🥲

    A tumour was successfully removed from her pituitary gland and she is being closely monitored 🤕
